With our daily use of modern technology when is the last time you sat down to write a letter to someone? Unless you’re like me and you’re someone who loves to write, it’s not something we do all that often which is a shame because there are so many benefits from writing and journaling and specifically writing letters or love letters to ourselves and others.
I figured because I work with the Rose that it makes perfect sense to have this as my design theme and have designed 3 sets each with a different colour, purpose and frequency.

The Pink Rose aligns with the heart or higher heart frequencies as does rose quartz and rose essential oil and represents Mother Earth and the Elemental realm and earth elements like crystals, sacred geometry, and the Fae folk. As a Rose priestess it is my role to help protect these elements and to help you open your heart space by ushering in love & light through self love and self care practises so below I give you 7 benefits of writing, journaling and list making.
I am not an expert, these are ways that I benefit from writing so If you know of any other ways to benefit I would love to hear them.
7 Benefits of writing, Journaling and list making
1. Relieves stress & anxiety
Writing is a form of physical release and helps to relieve stress and anxiety. It helps you to feel lighter by getting things off your chest or out of your mind as energy/stored emotion from the mind and body is transferred through the pen to the paper. It is great for brainstorming and freeing up your mental space leaving more room for creative ideas and problem solving.
2. Clear Communication
Writing helps to process your thoughts and emotions as seeing them written down allows you to make sense of it. This can be extremely helpful if you’re wanting to go a step further and talk to someone about it. Writing is also a wonderful way to communicate how you feel if you have difficulty speaking about things. The clearer you are about how you feel the more someone else will be able to understand and help guide you on the next steps to take.
3. Create gratitude & abundance
Keeping a gratitude journal can help you to feel prosperous and abundant. When we take the time to become aware of all the things life has to offer we become grounded, peaceful and content with all that we are and all that we have. Gratitude can help us to see the silver lining in things that we may have seen previously as lacking. Create more abundance in your life by writing down everything that you’re grateful for and make it part of your daily practice. I consciously try to do this morning and night as in the morning it can set you up for a really positive and great day where everything just flows and by night it can teach you to look for the positive things that have happened that day and by processing the day it allows your mind to rest and can improve your quality of sleep.
4. Plan & Identify dreams & goals
Knowing what you want and having a plan or process in place is crucial for getting you to your desired outcome and achieving your goals efficiently and effectively. Make a list of all the things you wish to achieve. This could be a daily, weekly, monthly, 3, 6 or 12 monthly or even a 1, 5 and 10 year goal list. Allow yourself to dream big and always leave room for spontaneity or magic as I like to call it. Check in with yourself every so often to tick off your achievements or adjust yourself accordingly to keep you on track to achieving those dreams and goals.
5. Invite Creativity & inspiration
Allow your words and ideas to flow freely on the page. I find the use of pretty or attractive paper and letter sets useful when writing heartfelt letters to myself and others as the colours and images help to express deeper emotions that may not have been expressed if using plain white paper. Use colour, texture and even smells to create inspiration when writing. When I was in my teens my BF and I would write letters to each other and sign off with a kiss using lipstick and a spritz of our favourite/current perfume.
6. Build Confidence & Memory
Regular writing or journaling can help you to gain confidence by Improving your vocabulary and your reading and writing skills. Build confidence by getting to know and understand yourself more and incorporate new words and ways of telling your story. Daily writing and note taking also helps to improve memory as the simple act of writing by hand on paper sends signals to the brain which increases the ability to retain new information.
7. Record & track your progress
Writing allows you to keep track of your growth, progress and achievements. Periodically revisit your journal entries and list’s to see how far you’ve come. Doing this can stimulate more motivation, inspiration and growth and can help you to feel more confident about your choices and all you’ve achieved. Remember when writing to give yourself praise and credit for your accomplishments, even taking the time to sit down and write is an accomplishment and an act of self care and should be celebrated.
